What is a Trailer
Mover?
I just bought a trailer. Well, as do most parents help out,
my MOM actually sent me the money to buy a place where, as one
character said I can “do me some good without doin’ any harm….”
I love it. It is in an ultimately remote area, with trees,
birds, horses, cows, squirrels, and very few people. It is
self-contained. It is QUIET. But I do obsess, I must confess,
on how, when (if) the time comes, I need to relocate. What kind
of a trailer mover do I use? How in God’s name will I move the
thing myself, especially considering it was originally driven
forward into a narrow alcove on a raised area that is on a
narrow dirt road, and it will have to be BACKED out.
Well, for starters, there is an industry that makes trailer
movers. PowerMoverInc, for instance, offers and educates on the
different types of trailer mover, explaining the following:
AC Trailer Mover Dollies – These implements are crafted on
the basis that, as PowerMover maintains, “85% to 93% of your
trailer's weight is typically centered over its axles,” so the
dolly traction is amped up with four-ply, diamond-studded
tires. In addition, the most challenging activity, turning, is
made easier; and the trailer mover in this category can push or
pull 4,500 pounds! That covers my two-ton trailer.
DC Trailer Mover Dollies – these babies can move almost as
much, or about half the tonnage, working up to 1,700 pounds
with the same ease as the AC trailer mover dollies.
There are, however,
trailer movers that can handle thirty (30) tons!!!
You may, though, be looking for mover trailers, as opposed
to trailer movers. This means you seek the open, partially
enclosed, or fully enclosed containers on wheels that will help
you haul your junk from one location to another. These come in
lengths from four to forty feet, are ball-jacked so you can
hook them up to cars or trucks (usually trucks, of course), and
can be locked, used for extra storage, or used for work spaces,
even.
Then again, you may be looking for human trailer movers. If
this is the case, you can 1) consult the people in areas where
lots of trailers are commonplace. (In my area, for instance,
the ranching community makes frequent use of trailers, so there
are trailer repair, trailer servicing, and trailer mover
outlets and shops everywhere downtown!)
